DA-BFAR SAAD 3 Conducts Profiling Activity in Anao, Tarlac for SAAD Program Phase 2

In order to ensure a proper selection process for beneficiaries of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office III (DA-BFAR 3) conducted a comprehensive profiling activity in Barangay Baguindoc, Anao, Tarlac on June 8, 2023.
The profiling activity garnered active participation from 36 potential beneficiaries and local chief executives including Hon. Gian Pierre De Dios (Municipal Mayor of Anao, Tarlac), Mr. Alvin Butay (Municipal Agriculturist), Mr. Wilmar Tabile (Sangguniang Bayan member for Fisheries and Agriculture Committee), barangay officials led by Rey G. Mariano (Barangay Captain), as well as the Regional Program Management Support Office (RPMSO) and Provincial Program Management Support Office (PPMSO-Tarlac).
The activity constituted the social preparation component of the program, aiming to gather essential information, including socio-economic status, land ownership, basic details, agricultural requirements, and community development potential, which will enable the RPMSO and PPMSO to compile and validate a targeted list of beneficiaries.
The DA-BFAR SAAD RPMSO and PPMSO are firmly committed to ensuring a fair and transparent selection process, guided by the principles of inclusivity and equity. The results of the profiling activity will be meticulously reviewed and evaluated to identify those who stand to benefit the most from the SAAD Program Phase 2.
During the activity, the discussion also addressed the potential formation of an organized fisherfolk group comprising the 37 beneficiaries, along with an examination of the current fishery conditions in the community, among other relevant topics.
“We kindly request your cooperation as this program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we would deeply regret if it passes us by,” expressed Wilmar Tabile, SB member/committee on fisheries and agriculture. He added, “We also humbly ask everyone to take good care of Barangay Baguindoc.” These were SB Tabile’s closing remarks, emphasizing the significance of community involvement.
The SAAD Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA), aims to alleviate poverty and enhance local food production by providing livelihood support to marginalized Filipino farmers and fisherfolks, ultimately improving their economic conditions and fostering development in their communities.
